Money Managing Tools

For the first three months of 2007, I have been trying to find a good way to manage my finances. I have been using a spreadsheet that I created for 2006, but I wanted something better. Then I discovered PearBudget (http://www.pearbudget.com), which made my spreadsheet look like a one week old banana peel that has been stepped and rained on many times. Not too long after, I found Buddi (http://buddi.sourceforge.net), which is an open source program with some good functionality. I’ve been switching tools and re-entering all my entries. Finally, I discovered GnuCash (http://www.gnucash.org/), another open source program, but it works only under a Linux distribution. That lead me to install my own copy of Linux since I wanted to reformat my laptop anyway. That also leads me to another blog entry…

I would suggest that you try both PearBudget and Buddi to see what you like. There is also My Mint (http://mymint.com), but that isn’t ready yet.
