New Theme and Design
After spending a few hours learning how WordPress templates worked, I have designed my own. I still don’t know much about PHP, but I think I’m familiar with how CSS works. It’s much more advanced than simple HTML and many HTML things are deprecated. This is what they call Web 2.0 and I like it. The average n00b can download and install WordPress in about 10 minutes.
I spent a lot of my time playing around with CSS. My content and sidebars were shifting all over the place! But now, I have finally found the sweet spots for the columns. You will notice that the graphics are not the best and that is because I created them with Paint.NET, which is a free program with added functionality. It’s not nearly as good as Photoshop, but it loads much faster and works great for my needs. I initially wanted to have a dark background using midnight blue for the entire page, but it turned out too dark and unattractive. I wanted to create an under water type theme, so I have includes bubbles and a submarine. I personally find the colours that I have chosen to be quite attractive, but what do you think? Post a comment and let me know.
I have also included an advertising column because I would like to cover the cost of the domain and web hosting. I will probably end up with a deficit at the end of the year, but it doesn’t hurt to try.
