HDR on My Sonar
I’ve been busy these days, but sometimes I send an acoustic pulse to see what kind of echo I get in return. And today, I heard HDR. Actually, I have no idea what I’m talking about; I just wanted HDR to rhyme with something. Anyway, have you played Half-Life 2: Lost Coast? It’s got HDR rendering. That is, high dynamic range rendering. When 3D graphics are rendered, they have a higher dynamic range, which means that there is higher contrast. And with higher contrast, things look better. There is also light bloom, which adds a bright glow to lighted objects.
Today, I would like to introduce you to HDR imaging, where photos are edited to create a high dynamic range of exposures. It’s not easy to create these HDR images, but it’s very easy for you to look at and enjoy.

I am going to try making an HDR image one day with my cheap digital camera, but I have a feeling that it will turn out to be black and white in the end.
