These were the same videos that I watched in XP and they looked very different. Windows 7 includes most video codecs to play anything that you download or encode, such as xvid. I installed Shark007’s Windows 7 Codecs pack to see if it would make a difference and it did not. I changed the default codecs to not use the Windows codecs and video playback was still washed out. It turns out that the gamma setting on my laptop screen was too high by default. If you are experiencing washed out video playback in Windows 7, try adjusting the gamma settings by following these steps:

Click on Start > Control Panel

Click on Appearance and Personalization

Click on Display

Click on Calibrate color

Run through the Display Color Calibration tool

Now everything looks a lot better. Try it for yourself!

My YouTube Channel consists of many beatboxing and random videos. Apparently, YouTube Insight reveals that it attracts a predominately male audience. This makes sense because the beatboxing scene is mostly male. I have a video of someone singing a Chinese song that I recorded from television and the male-female viewer ratio for that particular video is about 1:1. Videos with singing or a full band have more female viewers than beatboxing videos. I didn’t even bother looking at my random videos.

My goal is to achieve a more balanced audience. Seriously, too many dudes are watching me, haha. As a result, upcoming videos will have less beatboxing and more singing. Will there be less clothes you ask? You wish! I prefer to keep my videos at a G rating. So stay tuned!

Do you remember playing with Hot Wheels back in the days? I don’t because my parents never bought it. I can afford to buy some hot wheels now, but I rather buy a real car. Yesterday, I was actually feeling a little bit of boredom; the feeling that I haven’t felt in a long time. That made me look for some computer games to play. I ran into TrackMania Nations Forever, a free game that resembles hot wheels. Now I can play with hot wheels while I sit there with my back slouched, eating junk food.

After installing this game, it was quite fun. I started with single player to get a feel of the game dynamics and the physics system and it was decent. The graphics are smooth and pleasant, the soundtrack is not annoying, and the gameplay is interesting. The only problem is that with a keyboard, you have to tap the arrow keys to turn a bit, which takes some time to get used to. I would recommend a game pad with the thumbsticks for this game.

The tracks are very cool. There are race tracks, speed tracks, acrobatic tracks, and endurance tracks. You compete against ghost cars in all races, which is another downside. You can’t do something that I would thoroughly enjoy in this game; you can’t bump anyone off the track because they’re just ghost cars. Nevertheless, the tracks require coordination and skill. If you want to beat the gold medalist, you would need to complete the track with a fast time.

Everything is customizable. You can paint your car and create your own tracks. The track editor is well integrated, extremely easy to use, and the possibilities are endless. You won’t be disappointed if you like playing with Lego.

There are multiple multiplayer modes. You can play hot seat, through the local network, or online. Online play is similar to single player except that you race against other people in ghost cars. You select your country and province when you create your profile and you are shown your world rank, national rank, and provincial rank. When you play against other people, you’ll see country flags, so you represent your country, which is very neat. It’s like playing Hot Wheels at the Olympics.

For those who want to play games casually, this is it. Load times are quick and you can play a track or two and then quit. The best part is that this game is FREE! Go download it and play with me!

I received one that looked like this: http://[friend's name].pics.03kem.info. It’s a website that asks for your MSN e-mail and password, disguising as “PICS FOR MSN FRIENDS.” If you login, your account information will be compromised.

Their website includes the following terms:

We may temporarily access your MSN account to do a combination
of the following:
1. Send Instant Messages to your friends promoting this site.
2. Introduce new entertaining sites to your friends via Instant Messages.

Basically, you are giving them access to your MSN account to spam your friends. I strongly discourage the use of the 03kem.info sites.

Link: http://anyname.pics.03kem.info/ – DO NOT enter your email or password at their website. This link is provided so that you can recognize it.

With 24 hour days, we are constraint by time. Learning takes time and spaced learning is best. Information is plentiful because of the internet and now my news reader (Google Reader) is bloated! I have so much that I want to learn that I keep subscribing to RSS feeds. I’ve also got email subscriptions to a few other useful websites. Every day, I receive 300+ news items; some are good and some are useless to me. How do I manage all of this information with so little time?

Speed Reading – I basically do this with my textbooks as well. I choose what’s important and I spend more time on it while I ignore less important items.

The Scroll Wheel and Keyboard Shortcuts – Google Reader allows me to use ‘J’ and ‘K’ to move through items quickly. The scroll wheel is even quicker!

Time Usage – When I’ve got time, I will try to check my reader.

Still, I cannot manage to retain all of this information. I’m overloaded! I feel welcomed to the information age. This is why specialization is important. Using the principle of comparative advantage, we can work together to share knowledge. Where can I find others to trade knowledge? Clubs, interest groups, libraries and of course, school.
